Fresh claims follow Trump’s latest golf win

United States president Donald Trump has faced fresh allegations of cheating on the golf course after his latest triumph. The claims from sport fans come after the 80-year-old's success at the Bedminster Club Championship.

Trump, currently serving his second presidential term, has long been a keen golfer. This has sometimes brought him criticism from those who worry he has shown more dedication to this pastime than to his political office - in 2025, it was estimated that he had spent around 25 per cent of his days in office out on the course during his second presidential term.

Not only does the president play a lot of golf, he also owns a number of courses in the States and further afield. It was at one of these courses, Trump National Bedminster in New Jersey, where his latest victory arrived.

Trump claimed to have won with a score of 70, sharing footage of an apparent winning shot on his social media platform Truth Social.

“I won with a score of 70, and am so honoured in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, because I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it, and they don’t!”

The commander-in-chief frequently boasts about his prowess on the course and previously claimed to have won club and senior championships in Florida in 2024.

Trump National Golf Club Bedminster plays to a par of 72, indicating a two under par final round for the politician, though not everyone was convinced by the achievement.

“I've seen his swing, he didn't shoot 70 unless he cheated and played from the short tees. No way,”
“It's funny that he cheats to win and knows this. But he doesn't care. He just wants to win by whatever means.
“Watched him live for years, listened to his caddies stories. Everyone around him allows him to cheat out of fear. Nothing he does is genuine. All his 'feats' are fake, and he actually feels special,”

a third cynic argued, while a fourth claimed to have seen footage of the president's caddie moving the ball for him.

On a video shared by Trump of him playing the 'winning shot' at the Bedminster Club Championship, further users raised questions over the footage, which depicted a ball delicately chipped onto the green and coming to a halt close to the hole.

“Lol 100% that golf ball is remote controlled! those bounces are not normal,”
“That ball had a string : ) or front brakes,”
“A little helpful foot tap at some point by someone.”

Others pointed out that the ball never actually dropped into the hole, as Trump is well known for conceding putts when the ball is considered close enough.

“Did it 'automatically' count as 'going in the hole'? Just being in the general area?”.

Trump is a passionate golfer who has faced fierce criticism for spending a considerable portion of his second presidential term out on the course. Trump also owns courses in Scotland and was spotted playing a round during a recent visit to the UK.

Some still remain sceptical about his golfing prowess. Trump's consistency on the course and incredible record have been questioned, with sports columnist Rick Reilly accusing him of cheating in the past, saying:

“When it comes to cheating, he's an 11 on a scale of one to 10.”
