Middleweight world champion Denzel Bentley has committed to a multi-fight agreement with Zuffa Boxing and will step into the ring on November 7 at the Copper Box Arena in a televised clash on Sky Sports.

The Battersea fighter faces American middleweight Shane Mosley Jr in a high-profile encounter on the stacked ZUFFA BOXING 12 card, which features a cruiserweight headline bout between Chris Billam-Smith and Cheavon Clarke.

Bentley claimed the WBO middleweight crown following a gruelling victory over Venezuelan challenger Endry Saavedra at London's O2 arena in April. In a competitive affair, Bentley demonstrated his championship credentials by stopping Saavedra in the seventh round, securing the WBO Interim title which was subsequently upgraded to the full world championship status.

However, Bentley's title situation has become complex. According to DAZN, the champion launched an appeal against the WBO's mandatory order rather than vacating his belt, with discussions about the appeal expected to take place in the week following October 2. The WBO's purse bid for Bentley's mandatory defence against unbeaten Cuban Yoenli Hernandez, 11-0 with nine knockouts, was won by Warriors Boxing with a $200,000 bid, split 80/20 in the champion's favour.

Bentley's path to world title glory has been marked by resilience and determination. A former British champion, he suffered a setback when he challenged Zhanibek Alimkhanuly for a world title. He recovered from a shock defeat to Nathan Heaney by recording victories over Danny Dignum, Derrick Osaze and Brad Pauls, ultimately positioning himself for the career-defining Saavedra encounter.

That's an achievement ticked off, that's one of my goals. I can leave the sport knowing that I was a world champion. But now it's time to try and achieve more and raise my potential. I don't think many people tipped me to be a world champion when I first started
, Bentley told Sky Sports.

I didn't really know if I could even get a chance to compete for one rather than actually win one. It's the highest accolade in the sport so you have to do a lot to get there but I just bit down and went through the process and made it there.

Bentley's opponent Mosley Jr brings considerable pedigree to the Copper Box Arena. The son of boxing legend Shane Mosley, the American arrives on the back of an impressive recent performance in which he halted strong Ukrainian fighter Serhii Bohachuk in six rounds in Las Vegas. Mosley Jr has competed at the sport's elite level, claiming a victory over former world champion Daniel Jacobs and narrowly missing out on the WBC Interim title when he faced Jesus Alejandro Ramos last year.

Supporting cast takes shape

The undercard for ZUFFA BOXING 12 features a series of compelling matchups. London-born cruiserweight prospect Lucas Roehrig, 9-0 (5), will contest an eight-round bout against Scotland's Connal McDonald, 5-1 (1).

Scottish middleweight talent Sam Hickey, 6-0 (3), aims to extend his knockout streak to three consecutive victories when he faces Troy "The Hawk" Coleman, 15-5-1 (7), in an eight-rounder. Hickey recently delivered a seventh-round stoppage of Brad Axe at Zuffa Boxing 10 in Dublin.

American heavyweight prospect Da'Mazion Vanhouter, 13-0 (10), makes his UK debut against the powerful Ivan Balaz, 9-1 (7) in an eight-rounder. The 21-year-old has recorded six first-round knockouts in his last seven fights.

Super-lightweight star Kayla Allen, who turned professional last Saturday at Copper Box Arena, will make her second professional appearance at the same venue in a six-rounder against an opponent yet to be confirmed.

Bentley eyes division dominance

The victor of the Bentley-Mosley Jr encounter will face intriguing possibilities within the middleweight division. Aaron McKenna recently announced himself as a major force when he defeated Etinosa Oliha to claim the IBF title, creating a potential future showdown for Bentley should he emerge victorious on November 7.

I think me and Aaron, the winner of that will be the No 1 in the division
, Bentley stated.
If we are the ones making a noise in this division, you can't help make the winner of that fight No 1, rather than looking at Carlos Adames or Erislandy Lara and looking at their past performances and what they've done in the past and using that to make them No 1. We can put the middleweight division back on the map.

Bentley has not yet defended the WBO title in the ring since being elevated from interim champion after Janibek Alimkhanuly moved to super-middleweight, according to DAZN.

What comes next

The WBO's decision on Bentley's appeal will prove crucial in determining his immediate future. The outcome could affect whether he retains the title and whether a voluntary defence against Mosley Jr is possible, with discussions expected to conclude in the weeks ahead.

Tickets for ZUFFA BOXING 12 are available now via Ticketmaster. The event takes place on November 7 at the Copper Box Arena in London, with live coverage on Sky Sports.
