Elsewhere on the card, Lee Cutler and Louis Greene will collide in a middleweight showdown, adding further intrigue to a night built around heavyweight star Johnny Fisher.
The Richards-Kalajdzic bout has been confirmed as the chief support fight for Fisher's 10-round heavyweight headline clash at Zuffa Boxing 11 on September 26, with the event broadcast live on Sky Sports.
Fisher's own opponent, dubbed 'The Romford Bull', has yet to be revealed, with an announcement expected in the coming days.
Richards enters the fight with a professional record of 20 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw, including 13 knockouts. The former British champion holds a world ranking and challenged Dmitry Bivol for the WBA light-heavyweight title back in 2021, a contest Bivol won by unanimous decision to retain his belt, according to Sky Sports.
Despite that setback, Richards has continued to push for another shot at the top, telling Sky Sports that world honours remain firmly in his sights.
He has won his last two bouts in 2025, most notably stopping Dan Azeez. According to Wikipedia, that victory came via a 12th-round knockout on 20 December 2025.
Kalajdzic, born in Serbia and now boasting a 30-3 record with 22 knockouts, will be making his first appearance outside North America since turning professional. The 35-year-old heavy-hitter arrives on the back of a seventh-round stoppage of Oleksandr Gvozdyk in February, a result that underlined his continued threat at 35.
Turning to the chief supporting attraction beneath the Richards clash, British pair Cutler and Greene will meet over 10 rounds at middleweight in what promises to be a compelling domestic dust-up.
Cutler's most notable career win came in December 2024, when he outpointed Stevie McKenna to hand the Irish knockout specialist the only professional loss of his career so far.
He followed that up in his hometown of Bournemouth, halting Aaron Sutton inside three rounds in his most recent outing.
Greene, a former Commonwealth super-welterweight champion, is also in form having secured a points victory over Daniel Buciuc in Dublin last week.
The Copper Box card also marks a landmark moment for women's boxing at the promotion, with decorated British amateur Kayla Allen set to make her professional debut after becoming the first female fighter to sign with Zuffa Boxing.
Also featuring on the bill are Alex MacMillan and Leon Hughes, alongside Fred Pullen, who will also be turning professional on the night.
