Daniel Dubois expects to set up blockbuster fight Tyson Fury after Fabio Wardley rematch: 'That's what boxing's about'

Daniel Dubois is plotting a path towards a heavyweight showdown with Tyson Fury, believing the two British champions could meet in a blockbuster all-British clash if both emerge victorious from their respective upcoming fights.

The WBO world champion sees Fury as an obvious next opponent once he has dealt with his immediate challenge. Dubois will defend his title against Fabio Wardley in a rematch on October 17, while Fury is scheduled to face Anthony Joshua on December 11 in Cardiff.

"What a fight that would be. It's like me and AJ all over again. That sort of magnitude. That's what boxing's about really. Frank [Warren, their promoter] would love it, he's got both of us. I've got to come through my next fight and anything's possible,"
Dubois told Sky Sports News.

When asked to predict the outcome of the Joshua-Fury clash, Dubois backed the Gypsy King.

"I think Fury. Everyone's been talking about this fight for such a long time. It'll be good to see them both get into the ring. Two legends of British boxing."

However, Dubois was keen to emphasise his singular focus on the immediate task ahead.

"Let's be real, I don't even care about that fight. I'm not looking past Fabio at all. One fight at a time. I'm just dedicating myself 100 percent to this fight and he's a true competitor, a true warrior and I'm just looking forward to getting in there and giving the fans another great fight."

Wardley rematch at The O2

The rematch between Dubois and Wardley will take place at The O2 in London and will be shown on DAZN pay-per-view. Dubois enters the bout with a record of 23-3 and 22 knockouts, while Wardley holds a record of 20-1-1 with 19 knockouts.

Their first encounter was a dramatic affair, with Dubois rising from the canvas twice in the early rounds before ultimately forcing a stoppage. The Londoner believes Wardley's corner should have withdrawn him earlier from that contest.

"They were gambling with him. Obviously he's known for getting bashed up and coming back so that's what they must have been gambling on. But I'm a different animal and I just keep getting stronger as the rounds go on,"
Dubois said.

Wardley activated his contractual rematch clause six days after the first defeat. He had claimed the interim WBO belt by stopping Joseph Parker in October 2025, then became full champion after Oleksandr Usyk chose not to defend the title against him.

Dubois is confident he will improve on his previous performance.

"We're just going to do even better than the first time. You'll see on the night."

He intends to finish the fight more decisively this time around.

"A bit quicker, a bit more clinical. I can't wait to get back in there again and stick it on him again."

Fury-Joshua bout faces uncertainty

The heavyweight title landscape has become increasingly fragmented in recent months. Murat Gassiev holds the WBA belt and Agit Kabayel the WBC title, following Usyk's decision to vacate his titles.

Fury and Joshua's December 11 showdown has been a long time in the making. The bout is officially scheduled for Cardiff's Principality Stadium with Netflix broadcasting it, though a dispute over promotion has put the bout's status in doubt.

The two fighters will share a $200 million purse, with the bout structured as a one-off featuring no rematch clause. This means the loser could face an uncertain future in the heavyweight division.

Joshua has previously predicted a spectacular outcome to the clash, targeting a potential first-round knockout against Fury in what promises to be one of British boxing's most significant heavyweight encounters in recent years.
