Fury delivers against Wach in Thailand
Tyson Fury stopped Mariusz Wach to uphold his end of his bargain with Anthony Joshua. Fury was fighting for the second time this year having outpointed Arslanbek Makhmudov in London in April. He had insisted on a second warm-up bout before he takes on Joshua in November - and Fury made no mistake against 46-year-old Polish veteran Wach in Thailand on Friday.
Fury now faces a nervous wait for Joshua to take to the ring in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night against Kristian Prenga. Victory for the Olympic champion should see a date and venue finally announced for the all-British heavyweight showdown.
Fury boxes patiently before Wach quits
Fury, who was fighting in front of 1,500 fans and donating all ticket proceeds to a children's charity, began patiently, feinting with his jab before turning southpaw. He continued in that stance through the second round as Wach ate four jabs in succession before firing back with a right hand.
Fury then landed a three-punch combination after the ball and is forced to apologise. Fury continued to switch between stances in the third round as Wach began to tire. The Pole was content to lean on Fury having outweighed the Brit at Friday's weigh-in.
Fury continued to jab his way through the fight while playing to the crowd in the fourth session. Wach reminded Fury he was still in the fight with a solid right hand in the fifth round. Fury responded by pinning the Pole in the corner and firing off his uppercut to leave Wach feeling the pace by the halfway mark.
