Jermain Defoe leaves Woking after six games as manager says it was 'impossible to continue'

Jermain Defoe's first job as a manager has come an end after just four months.

National League side Woking announced on Thursday that they'd parted ways with the Premier League icon, who said in a statement that it was 'impossible to continue'.

Defoe, 43, was appointed at the end of March and guided Woking to a 10th-place finish in the fifth tier. The ex-England striker won two of his six games in charge and was expected to lead the Surrey outfit into the 2026-27 season. But Woking announced on Thursday evening that his reign has come to an end.
