West Ham have confirmed the appointment of Scott Parker as their new head coach, bringing the former player back to the club 15 years after his departure. According to Sky Sports, the 46-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, who was dismissed on November 3 following just over 13 months in the role.
Parker's backroom team will comprise first-team coaches Steve Potts, Gerard Prenderville and Billy Lepine, with club legend Mark Noble also contributing closely alongside his former teammate. The new manager will make his debut in the dugout on Wednesday night when West Ham travel to the Cardiff City Stadium to face Cardiff.
The Hammers currently occupy eighth position in the Championship table, sitting six points adrift of leaders Middlesbrough. West Brom's recent 3-1 victory at the London Stadium had left the club six points off the promotion places, piling pressure on the previous management structure.
Parker arrives with an impressive track record of Championship success. He has secured promotion on three separate occasions: guiding Fulham to the top flight in 2019/20, Bournemouth in 2021/22, and most recently Burnley in 2024/25. His experience at multiple clubs demonstrates his ability to navigate the demanding second tier.
The appointment marks a significant homecoming for Parker, who departed West Ham as a player in August 2011. During his time with the Hammers, the former England international made 129 appearances and contributed 12 goals to the club's cause. He had been without a managerial position since April, when he left Burnley by mutual consent.
