PSG set huge Barcola valuation
PSG have slapped a mammoth £140million price tag on Bradley Barcola as it looks increasingly like he will leave the Champions League winners. The winger has been the subject of interest from the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal this summer but his place at the Parisians is in jeopardy and an exit in expected over the coming months.
He's confirmed he won't signed a new deal and PSG want to maximise their profits if he does depart. Real Madrid and PSG are battling to land RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, who is also on Liverpool's radar, but a move to Paris would further push Barcola down the pecking order.
His refusal to sign a new deal, even though he's under contract until 2031, has seen PSG willing to see him leave provided their huge price tag is met, reports the Evening Standard. PSG believe their huge valuation, which would make Barcola their most expensive sale ever, is fair given what they've seen elsewhere in the market.
Barcola's form and Liverpool's interest
The winger has ultimately helped deliver successive European Cups and is still only 23. The Parisians have watched Morgan Rogers and Elliot Anderson move for £117m and £116m respectively. Barcola caught the eye with an impressive World Cup campaign as France made it to the semi-finals, scoring three times.
Liverpool are thought to be in pole position to sign Barcola with Diomande preferring other destinations and Arsenal looking to prioritise a move for Vinicius Jnr. Last term he scored 13 times, which came after a year where he found the net 21 times, even though he was not a guaranteed starter under Luis Enrique.
Last year the PSG boss had to warn off rivals from signing Barcola, insisting he was crucial to his plans. He was utilised throughout last season, but ultimately sits behind the likes of Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the pecking order.
Liverpool weighing up a major move
Liverpool are on the lookout for a man to replace Mohamed Salah, who left after almost a decade at Anfield. They've shown in recent years that they are prepared to spend big on players, but landing Barcola could see them break their own British transfer record.
