Liverpool’s pre-season has stepped up with the club jetting out to the United States on Monday.
While not all of his players were on the plane, with some players set to join later on due to their involvement in the World Cup, the next few weeks will give new head coach Andoni Iraola the best look yet at his squad.
The World Cup came to an end on Sunday night. The tournament has dominated the summer, putting transfer business on the back burner for some clubs, including the Reds.
However, with time ticking away until Liverpool face Newcastle United on August 23, the club’s transfer business is set to ignite.
Today’s latest around the Reds sees Iraola confirm a new arrival, while elsewhere, a long-term Reds’ target has been at the centre of a possible transfer U-turn.
Alejandro Rosalen has been confirmed as Liverpool’s new first-team goalkeeping coach after the departure of Xavi Valero.
The Spaniard has moved to the Reds after five years with Napoli, in which he was part of two Serie A title victories, in 2022/23 and 2024/25.
His career began at Valencia and was followed by one season in Hungary with Videoton.
He spent eight years with Fiorentina before he took up the position at Napoli in 2021.

Valero told Liverpool before the end of last season that he wished to leave, just 12 months after rejoining the club from West Ham.
As per The Athletic, his exit was unrelated to Arne Slot's dismissal and was believed to be a mutual decision.
Valero was part of Rafael Benitez’s backroom staff at Anfield between 2007 and 2010.
After spells at Inter, Chelsea, Napoli and Real Madrid, he spent seven years at the Hammers before being hired by Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes last summer.
“Alejandro Rosalen has been appointed as Liverpool’s new first-team goalkeeping coach. The 49-year-old Spaniard joins Andoni Iraola’s backroom staff, replacing Xavi Valero, who has now departed the Reds after a second spell with the club in 2025-26.
“Rosalen arrives on Merseyside with a wealth of experience as a goalkeeper coach. His most recent position was at Serie A side Napoli, from 2021 to this summer. While there, Rosalen contributed to Napoli lifting the Scudetto on two occasions (2022-23 and 2024-25).
“He had previously spent eight years with Fiorentina in Italy, a period that followed a single season at Hungarian outfit Videoton. Rosalen’s coaching career had begun in Valencia’s academy, where he stayed for eight years.”
Long-time Liverpool target Yan Diomande was reported to have agreed personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain as far back as June.
However, crucially, there’s no agreement in place between PSG and the player's club, RB Leipzig, yet, with the German side still hoping to keep the teenager.
Despite making it clear to Leipzig they could afford his apparent £86.8million asking price, the Bundesliga club held firm.
Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that several other teams are still trying to muscle in on the deal to take Diomande to PSG as well, which could see the player U-turn on his decision to join the Ligue 1 outfit.
However, it's unclear if Liverpool have revisited their interest.
