Liverpool weigh up cheaper wide option
Liverpool are looking at Juventus star Francisco Conceicao as an alternative to Bradley Barcola, who could cost as much as £140million. The Reds are keen to add to their wide options this summer following Mohamed Salah’s exit a year before the end of his contract.
Liverpool completed a deal for Spanish wideman Victor Munoz for £34.5m last month, albeit they still want to sign another forward. Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise has been linked, albeit the German giants are not keen on selling. Leipzig’s Yan Diomande was also an option but he now appears set for a move to Real Madrid.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Barcola has also emerged as a priority target, but the French club’s £140m price tag is putting the Merseysiders off. That has forced Liverpool to look elsewhere.
According to reports in Italy, Juventus’ Conceicao is seen as a cheaper option and they have already got in touch with his representatives regarding a deal.
As it stands, Juventus are not keen on selling, having only spent £27.3m to sign him permanently last summer following an initial loan move from Porto. But it is thought that an offer in the region of around €50m (£42.6m) could be enough to seal his services.
It is not the first time that Liverpool have been linked with a swoop for Conceicao. His name was also mentioned during last season but the Portuguese international remained tight-lipped on his future.
I know people talk about a big club, but I play for a big club where I am happy. At the moment I am only focused on these two games with the national team and then I will focus on the final stretch of the season to help my club as much as possible.
I am at a big club where the pressure to win is very high. I just have to keep working and contribute with goals and assists. “My objective is to help with goals and assists, that is what I try to do. I must continue every day to show that I have the ability to help the national team and be helped by them to keep improving.
Conceicao, 23, has made 82 appearances for Juventus in all and has scored 11 goals in all competitions. His contract with the Italian giants is set to run until the summer of 2030.
