Liverpool step up Barcola pursuit
Andoni Iraola could be closing in on a transfer signing that has the potential to transform Liverpool's summer window. The Reds' major priority remains a replacement for Mohamed Salah and Bradley Barcola has taken huge steps towards landing that role.
Liverpool already secured the £60million signature of Jeremy Jacquet before Victor Munoz's surprise acquisition. However, Barcola could become Iraola's first superstar capture in a deal that has the potential to set a new British transfer record.
He's not the only forward signing being tipped for a move to Anfield as major developments unfold elsewhere. Mirror Football has all that and more as we break down the latest Liverpool transfer headlines.

Sky Sports News has reported Liverpool could be on track to land their dream Salah replacement after opening talks to sign Bradley Barcola. The player has reportedly verbally agreed to the move, with PSG the only party left that needs convincing.
That won't be an insignificant hurdle to climb, however, with Les Parisiens reportedly demanding £145million for their man. To put that figure into context, it would easily eclipse the British transfer record £125m Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak last summer.
Barcola, 23, has entered the final two years of his contract at the Parc des Princes. He's also reported to have turned down the offer of fresh talks over an extension, further evidence the winger is open to joining the Reds this summer.
Iraola has received further encouragement following reports in France that Barcola turned down Chelsea earlier this summer. Given his club have managed to advance in negotiations, it suggests a move to Anfield holds special significance to the forward.
The fact Barcola is in the final two years of his contract is a key factor in the transfer saga. While PSG hold a strong position in negotiations, Liverpool will be keenly aware of the fact Barcola's potential price-tag could drop substantially next summer. This could hand the Premier League powerhouse a vital bargaining chip in discussions.
PSG were in pole position to land another Liverpool target in Yan Diomande but have supposedly gone cold on the trail amid speculation he's set to join Real Madrid.
Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo has reportedly handed in a transfer request at his club. The 21-year-old has been touted as a target for Liverpool in recent weeks and seemingly wants to capitalise on the recent interest surrounding his name.
Atletico Madrid and Aston Villa are among the other major teams said to be interested in the player. He reportedly holds a transfer valuation of around £50m and would come considerably cheaper than some of Liverpool's other attacking targets.
Belgium international Fernandez-Pardo can play across the front line but has operated largely as a centre forward for Lille. The youngster netted eight goals and recorded five assists in 29 Ligue 1 appearances last season.
