Arteta gives Arsenal transfer update
Mikel Arteta has teased that “a lot is happening” at Arsenal this summer as the club continues to work on its plans for the transfer window.
The Gunners have been linked with some big names of late, with Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr having emerged as a key target for the reigning Premier League champions. Arsenal have expressed an interest in signing the Brazil international this summer, whose future at the Santiago Bernabeu is uncertain with no new contract agreed.
Recent updates in the last 24 hours have claimed that Arsenal face a tough task to sign Vinicius, with the expectation that the 26-year-old will remain with the La Liga giants. It has since been reported by football.london, though, that this is not necessarily the case. It is believed that a transfer to Arsenal remains very much on the table.
Amid the ongoing speculation surrounding potential new arrivals at Arsenal, which may or may not include Vinicius, Arteta has now provided an exciting update on the club's activity.
“A lot is happening,”
“We all know about the context of this transfer window.
“From ownership to the board, the sporting director and myself, we know that we want to take this club to a different level. That is going to require a better squad, better individuals.
“We have identified where we have opportunities to grow and to improve and to evolve our game and what is going to be needed to achieve that. FOLLOW OUR ARSENAL FB PAGE! Latest Gunners news and more on our dedicated Facebook page
“Hopefully very soon we can start to put things in a very concrete way.”
Arsenal have already completed two new signings so far this summer as they gear up for the forthcoming Premier League season, and have also confirmed at least one departure.
Illan Meslier has joined on a free transfer after his contract with Leeds United expired, while Christos Tzolis has been brought in on a permanent basis from Club Brugge following a £34million agreement between the two sides.
Arsenal have been searching for new attacking reinforcements and were reportedly interested in Morgan Rogers before the England international departed Aston Villa to seal a £117million move to Chelsea.
Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola and Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi have also been touted as possible targets for Arsenal this summer.
