Liverpool star reflects on Mo Salah’s exit

Liverpool star Milos Kerkez has revealed that he regularly speaks to club icon Mo Salah - but not about his next club. The Egyptian forward left Anfield in the summer on a free transfer a year before the end of his contract. It brought to an end a glittering spell on Merseyside, making 442 appearances and scoring 257 goals, with Liverpool winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League and a whole host of other trophies in that time.

Despite Salah having now left the club, Kerkez has confirmed that the pair are still in close contact, but the forward has yet to confirm where he will be playing his football next.

“I still speak with Mo often, but I don’t know who he is signing for! We just talk about vacations. “I looked up at the TV before we left the AXA for this tour and it showed how many goals and assists combined Mo had for Liverpool. It was 300 and something. I just walked out! What is this?! Time flies.”

Kerkez was happy to underline Salah’s impact at Anfield, with the scale of the winger’s output still striking even after his departure.

He also turned attention to a new chapter under new boss Andoni Iraola, with Hungary teammate Dominik Szoboszlai right at the forefront after signing a new deal.

Kerkez added:

“Now it’s a new generation with new players and hopefully, everything will be good. Dom signing his contract is very important for us. He is getting even better in that role of a leader. Everyone is really happy that he is continuing here for longer.”

That sense of transition comes as Liverpool adjust to life without one of the club’s modern greats, while Kerkez highlighted the importance of continuity through Szoboszlai’s commitment.

Besiktas position on Salah move becomes clearer

When it comes to Salah, he has been linked with a number of clubs including Sporting Kansas City and Besiktas. But a move to Turkey now appears to be unlikely if sporting director Onder Ozent’s comments are anything to go by.

“We contacted Salah, this also involved a financing model. Salah is a global star, a respected athlete. We met with Salah three times before the financial part of the negotiations was discussed. “Up to this point, everything was smooth. When the financial side began, the initial smoothness slowed down from July 21 onwards.”
“Requests began to arrive that would both disrupt the flow of information and create a deadlock in the financial process. I can assume that a respected athlete like Salah was unaware of this. “The club has a policy, and it cannot deviate from that policy, our President has very clearly identified his position and has stayed there. I don’t have a chance to say yes or no, Besiktas’s offer, made under its own terms, is clear. If a response comes to this offer, it can be evaluated. “But Besiktas will not make another offer. They said they are also in talks with another club, maybe they will get a result from there. The last offer we made to Salah is the final point that does not harm Besiktas’s club identity.”
