Lando Norris has unveiled LN4 Fusion, a new junior single-seater racing organisation that will field teams across multiple championships beginning in 2027, marking his most significant venture outside his own Formula 1 career.
The operation has secured selected assets from Formula 3 outfit AIX Racing, which holds an FIA F3 licence through the end of 2027, and will compete in that category next season. The team is simultaneously pursuing an application to enter Formula 2, with the process already underway.
Developed by a prominent investment consortium headed by Dan Richards, the group intends to establish racing programmes in Italian F4 and the FIA Formula Regional European Championship during 2027, with a British F4 testing programme already initiated as the team works toward entry in that category.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Norris expressed his enthusiasm for the project.
I'm very excited. This is one of my biggest things I've ever been part of that's not just within my own stuff of Formula 1.he told Sky Sports F1.
[It's] my very own race team that I co-founded. So I'll be having my own race team in all the junior series.
The McLaren driver outlined his ambitions for the operation.
Obviously, we want it to be the best. We want it to be the leading single-seater race team. But it's just very cool to be part of something new, create something, and for me to be part of something for such a long period of time as well.
Driver development focus
Alongside the racing team, Norris is launching the LN4 Legacy Programme, a fully funded driver development initiative operated by ADD Management. The programme will be led by Julian Rouse, the former Alpine sporting director, who brings extensive experience in nurturing junior talent.
The scheme targets young drivers with genuine potential but without the financial resources to progress through the competitive motorsport ladder toward Formula 1. Norris explained the motivation behind the initiative.
The main objective of this is simply to help younger drivers who have talent and have the ability to get to Formula 1, but probably not financially [the ability], and help them in all those other areas reach their end goal,he said.
Basically my little way of trying to give back, again, using my team, using the people that I'm with, my partners, and give other people, give young drivers a chance. So that's my more personal side of things, which is pretty cool too.
Infrastructure and facilities
LN4 Fusion will operate from two principal locations. The European headquarters and main facility are being constructed in Veneto, Italy, while a British operation will be based in Cambridgeshire, establishing a dual-base structure to support the team's multi-championship ambitions.
Norris reflected on his own pathway to the top of motorsport and the advantages he enjoyed.
I was very lucky growing up that my dad could support me all the way through to Formula 2.
But I know that there are a lot of other drivers out there who probably can get to Formula 1, but don't have the financial backing or the ability to know how to go through the whole programme, which is where the team comes into place too.
He detailed the scale of his commitment to the project.
This is my way, and we're talking hundreds of thousands, we're talking millions, in fact, of how I can bring my whole infrastructure together, my support, my knowledge, and try to give as many other people and certain other drivers opportunities to reach their goal too.
What comes next
LN4 Fusion's inaugural season in 2027 will see the team compete in Italian F4, FIA Formula Regional, and FIA F3. The completion of the F2 application process remains a key objective, with the team aiming to secure entry into that category as part of its long-term expansion. The British F4 programme, already in testing phases, is expected to commence racing operations as the team's growth continues.
