Lando Norris has unveiled LN4 Fusion, a new junior single-seater racing organisation that will field teams across multiple championships beginning in 2027, marking his most significant venture outside his Formula 1 commitments with McLaren.
The operation, backed by an investment group headed by Dan Richards, will compete in Italian F4 and Formula Regional next season. LN4 Fusion has acquired selected assets from AIX Racing, which holds an FIA F3 licence until the end of 2027, allowing the team to race in that championship immediately. The group is also working through an application process to secure an FIA Formula 2 entry for future seasons.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Norris expressed his enthusiasm for the project.
I'm very excited. This is one of my biggest things I've ever been part of that's not just within my own stuff of Formula 1,he told Sky Sports F1.
[It's] my very own race team that I co-founded. So I'll be having my own race team in all the junior series.
The McLaren driver outlined his ambitions for the organisation.
Obviously, we want it to be the best. We want it to be the leading single-seater race team. But it's just very cool to be part of something new, create something, and for me to be part of something for such a long period of time as well.
The team has already begun a British F4 testing programme as it works toward a formal entry in that category, with plans to expand the operation further across the junior racing landscape.
The LN4 Legacy Programme
Alongside the racing team, Norris is launching the LN4 Legacy Programme, an independently operated, fully funded driver development initiative. The scheme is managed by ADD Management and directed by Julian Rouse, a figure with extensive experience in junior motorsport development.
The programme targets young drivers with genuine talent but without the financial resources to progress through the competitive junior racing ladder toward Formula 1. Norris explained the motivation behind this parallel initiative.
The main objective of this is simply to help younger drivers who have talent and have the ability to get to Formula 1, but probably not financially [the ability], and help them in all those other areas reach their end goal,he said.
Basically my little way of trying to give back, again, using my team, using the people that I'm with, my partners, and give other people, give young drivers a chance. So that's my more personal side of things, which is pretty cool too.
Norris drew on his own experience growing up in a well-supported racing environment.
I was very lucky growing up that my dad could support me all the way through to Formula 2.He acknowledged the barrier that financial constraints create for talented drivers.
But I know that there are a lot of other drivers out there who probably can get to Formula 1, but don't have the financial backing or the ability to know how to go through the whole programme, which is where the team comes into place too.
The scale of Norris's commitment to the initiative is substantial.
This is my way, and we're talking hundreds of thousands, we're talking millions, in fact, of how I can bring my whole infrastructure together, my support, my knowledge, and try to give as many other people and certain other drivers opportunities to reach their goal too.
Operational Structure and Facilities
LN4 Fusion will operate from two principal bases. The team's European headquarters will be established in Veneto, Italy, where a new facility is currently under construction. A British operation will be based in Cambridgeshire, providing support for the team's UK-focused activities and driver development work.
The two-pronged structure—combining a competitive racing operation with a dedicated talent-identification and funding programme—positions Norris's venture as a comprehensive pathway for junior drivers. This mirrors approaches used by other established F1 driver development programmes, where teams compete directly in feeder categories to nurture talent toward the sport's highest level.
What Comes Next
LN4 Fusion is scheduled to begin racing operations in Italian F4, FIA Formula Regional European Championship and FIA F3 from the 2027 season. The team's application for an FIA Formula 2 entry is currently under review, with approval expected to enable competition in that category in subsequent years. The British F4 testing programme will continue as the team works toward a formal entry in that championship as part of its broader expansion strategy.
