The ceremonial weigh-ins take place ahead of Chris Billam-Smith's cruiserweight clash with Cheavon Clarke at London's Copper Box Arena this Saturday, with the event streamed live. According to Sky Sports, both fighters are in peak condition after impressive recent victories.
Billam-Smith emerged from a gruelling encounter against Ryan Rozicki in June, while Clarke demonstrated his resilience by rising from the canvas on two occasions to defeat Jack Massey on the same card. The pair's rivalry stretches back a decade, with Clarke having inflicted a painful amateur defeat on Billam-Smith in the 2016 national elite championships final, a result the Gravesend fighter is determined to avenge.
According to Boxing Insider, Billam-Smith arrives with a professional record of 22-2 and 14 knockouts, while Clarke carries a 12-2 mark with nine knockouts to his name. The bout is scheduled for 10 rounds at the London venue.
Tension between the fighters was evident at their pre-fight face-off, where Clarke declined Billam-Smith's handshake, though he later accepted a fist bump. Clarke has previously dismissed his opponent's hunger for redemption, insisting that despite Billam-Smith's world championship credentials, the challenger will ultimately be subdued.
Billam-Smith, a former WBO world champion who captured the title by defeating Lawrence Okolie in 2023, is seeking to return to the summit of the division. Clarke, meanwhile, has raced to winning the British title in just nine fights and is looking to elevate his career to a new level with a victory over the experienced former champion.
