Somerset's Craig Overton and Sophie Luff have secured the most prestigious accolades at the 2026 PCA awards in partnership with Toyota, with emerging England talents Sonny Baker and Tilly Corteen-Coleman also earning significant recognition at the ceremony held at Exhibition White City.
Overton delivered a standout performance across the honours, collecting four major awards in a single night. The 32-year-old claimed the PCA Men's Player of the Year trophy, the PCA Men's Domestic Overall MVP, the Rothesay County Championship Player of the Year and a place in the IG PCA Men's Team of the Year, where he was named captain of the XI.
His achievements this season have been remarkable. Across all three formats, Overton accumulated 951 runs, took 76 wickets and claimed 45 catches. According to the PCA's official announcement, he amassed 680.08 MVP points and received £12,500 in prize money for his Overall MVP and Championship MVP wins. The Somerset all-rounder scored three first-class centuries during the campaign, a significant milestone given he had only one such century to his name at the start of the season.
Overton's form with the bat proved particularly influential during Somerset's successful Vitality Blast campaign. He struck a memorable unbeaten 79 in the quarter-finals to guide his county to Finals Day, helping Somerset reach the showpiece event for the sixth consecutive year.
The 32-year-old becomes the first Somerset player to secure the Player of the Year award since Nick Compton in 2012, overcoming strong competition from Joe Clarke, George Hill and Dan Lawrence.
It's a phenomenal feeling. To be chosen by your peers to win this award is very special; it means so much to me. To be able to put in consistent performances has made it a great year. My bowling ticked along and after I scored that hundred at Essex in the second game of the season my form with the bat carried on throughout the summer. The quarter-final against Yorkshire was where I felt like this year is the one where everything's going my way and everything clicked.
I felt like I got in a groove where my body was in a good spot, not 100 per cent because of the schedule, but mentally I felt like I was in a great spot to be able to go out and perform when games come along near enough every other day.
Somerset completed a remarkable double as their captain Luff also claimed the player-voted award. The 32-year-old becomes the first winner of the Toyota PCA Women's Player of the Year since Eve Jones in 2021 to have not played international cricket. Luff was also selected in the Metro Bank PCA Women's Team of the Year.
Luff impressed consistently for her county throughout the season and made a significant impact in The Hundred, winning the competition with Trent Rockets. She scored more than 1,000 runs during the summer, demonstrating her value as a senior figure in the Somerset squad.
It's super special people have voted for me after the performances and impact they feel I've had this year. It means that I'm doing things in the right way, and people think highly of you. I've always been a leader that wants to lead from the front, but I think people are seeing that play out in games now. I think this year I've just showcased what I'm capable of.
According to the PCA's women's team announcement, Jess Jonassen was named captain of the Women's Team of the Year. Jonassen also won the Metro Bank One Day Cup Women's Player of the Year and Women's Domestic Overall MVP. The full team includes Maia Bouchier, Lauren Winfield-Hill, Hollie Armitage, Georgia Adams, Mady Villiers, Amanda-Jade Wellington, Grace Ballinger, Charley Phillips and Bex Tyson alongside Luff.
Young Player Honours
Hampshire and England's Sonny Baker claimed the Toyota PCA Men's Young Player of the Year award following a breakthrough year that culminated in a Test match debut against New Zealand at the Kia Oval. The 21-year-old has already made an impact at international level, taking 10 wickets for England, including six in IT20s. Baker becomes the first Hampshire player to win this award since its introduction in 1990.
Left-arm spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman earned the Toyota PCA Women's Young Player of the Year award after a stellar campaign that saw her secure IT20 and ODI debuts for England. She also impressed for Surrey and Southern Brave in The Hundred, establishing herself as a rising talent in the women's game.
Outstanding Contributions
Former England captain Heather Knight was announced as the PCA Outstanding Contribution Award winner in recognition of her incredible dedication to the game over a prolonged period. The ECB also presented their Special Merit Award to former England batter Tammy Beaumont following her stellar international career.
According to the PCA's men's team selection process, the 2026 Teams of the Year were selected using the PCA's MVP rankings, powered by OFX. The men's Team of the Year notably includes seven debutants, reflecting the emergence of new talent in English cricket this season.
