West Ham have confirmed the appointment of Scott Parker as their new head coach, bringing the former player back to the club 15 years after his departure. According to Sky Sports, the 46-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, who was dismissed on November 3 following just over 13 months in the role.
Parker's coaching team will comprise existing first-team coaches Steve Potts, Gerard Prenderville and Billy Lepine, with the club indicating that Mark Noble, his former teammate, will also contribute closely to the operation. The new manager will make his debut in the dugout during Wednesday evening's fixture against Cardiff at the Cardiff City Stadium.
The Hammers currently occupy eighth position in the Championship table, sitting six points adrift of leaders Middlesbrough. Parker arrives with an impressive track record of securing promotion from the second tier on three separate occasions: he guided Fulham to the Premier League in 2019/20, Bournemouth in 2021/22, and most recently Burnley in 2024/25.
As a player, Parker represented West Ham with distinction, making 129 appearances and contributing 12 goals during his time at the club. The former England international departed in August 2011 before going on to enjoy a lengthy career elsewhere in the game.
Parker had been without a managerial position since April, when he and Burnley agreed to part company by mutual consent. His appointment marks a significant moment for the club as they look to revitalise their Championship campaign under fresh leadership.
