Barcola becomes Liverpool's second most expensive signing of all time

Liverpool have finalised the acquisition of Bradley Barcola following an extended transfer saga with Paris Saint-Germain.

The France international has put pen to paper on a five-year agreement at Anfield. The Merseyside club will hand over £106m in guaranteed funds, with performance-related add-ons capable of pushing the overall package to £128m.

The two clubs had been at loggerheads over valuation throughout the summer window. PSG had initially demanded approximately £145m for their winger, but negotiations eventually narrowed the gap. Barcola had reached a verbal agreement with Liverpool after discussions with manager Andoni Iraola, and the club prepared a £110m opening bid before PSG eventually reduced their asking price to £128m.

Barcola represents Iraola's third significant acquisition of the transfer window, following the arrivals of Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo. Jeremy Jacquet, who joined during the previous winter window, completes the recent recruitment drive.

The winger now ranks as Liverpool's second most expensive signing in their history, behind Alexander Isak's £125m transfer from Newcastle United last summer.
