Liverpool have finalised the acquisition of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, bringing an end to protracted transfer discussions between the two European clubs.
The France international has committed to a five-year deal at Anfield. The Reds will hand over a guaranteed £106m to PSG, with performance-related add-ons capable of pushing the total package to £123m.
The move concludes a summer-long negotiation process that saw significant daylight between the clubs' valuations. Earlier in the window, PSG had held firm on a £145m asking price for their winger, but the two sides eventually found common ground on revised terms.
Barcola joins as manager Andoni Iraola's third major summer acquisition, following the arrivals of Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo. The signing also comes after Jeremy Jacquet, who was brought in during the winter transfer window, had already bolstered the squad.
The winger now ranks as Liverpool's second-costliest purchase in the club's history. Only Alexander Isak's £125m transfer from Newcastle United last summer surpasses this deal in terms of outlay.
The protracted nature of negotiations reflected the initial gap between what PSG demanded and what Liverpool were prepared to invest. Barcola had reached a verbal agreement with Liverpool in late July, yet the clubs remained at odds over the fee. Liverpool's initial bid stood at £110m, while PSG subsequently reduced their demands to £128m before the clubs ultimately settled on the £106m guaranteed structure.
