Manchester United complete sixth summer addition

Manchester United have confirmed that Cristian Orozco has officially joined them as their sixth capture of the transfer window.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder joins the Red Devils from Fortaleza CEIF, who play in the Colombian Categoria Primera A. Orozco is a Colomba Under-18 international and highly-rated for the future.

Orozco's move was made official last month when he turned 18, though United did not immediately confirm the transfer. The statement announcing his move to England, shared on Thursday night, confirmed the talented teenager will initially link up with United's academy.

Reports outlining the agreement struck by United to bring Orozco to Old Trafford emerged last year, with the youngster later confirming he visited Carrington back in December.

Speaking to ESPN Colombia about the move, he said:

"I know my strengths are my physicality and my technique. "I have those qualities and, with the gift God gave me, I don’t think it will be too difficult. But everything is about adapting. I’m very young and that’s what I’ll need to do."
"I expect to learn a lot of English. When I was there, I realised just how, how important it is. "I want to arrive and learn as quickly as possible. That’s what’s required so I can show my level and everything I’m capable of. I want to adapt to everything that comes my way as quickly as possible."

While Orozco is set to link up with the academy, United have strengthened in midfield at a more senior level.

Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have been signed from Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively as part of United's plans to overhaul their engine room with the possibility that a further midfielder will be signed before the transfer deadline.

The latest move adds another name to a busy summer for United, with the club continuing to reshape the squad across different age groups and positions.

Earlier coverage has also tracked United's midfield rebuild, with Michael Carrick's fifth transfer, Alex Scott interest and other targets all forming part of the wider plan.
