2.12 Newbury - Arapaho Gold defends unbeaten record in Mill Reef Stakes
Arapaho Gold will attempt to maintain his perfect record when he lines up in the Group Two Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury. The juvenile trained by Michael Dods has won all four of his career starts, with his most impressive victory coming in the Group Two Gimcrack Stakes at York.
According to Racing Post, Dods has described Arapaho Gold as the best juvenile he has trained, underlining the colt's exceptional promise. The form he showed at York has been validated by the performance of the runner-up in that race, and despite carrying a three-pound penalty, he remains the horse to beat.
The race card shows eight runners with Arapaho Gold installed as the current market favourite at 6/5 odds. The contest is scheduled for 14:12 on Saturday 19 September 2026 and will be shown live on ITV Racing and Racing TV.
Andrew Balding's Jolivette represents the main danger and is the sole filly in the field. Under jockey Colin Keane, she produced her best effort to date when finishing third behind Libertango at York, and she retains the potential to improve significantly on that performance.
Cut A Dash finished fourth in the Coventry Stakes but has yet to reproduce that form, while Charlie Appleby's Nabati is another contender worthy of consideration. The colt finished third behind Forbidden Fire in the Flying Scotsman and may be suited by the drop back to six furlongs.
The race carries a total purse of £175,000 with the winner receiving £99,242, and this year's edition is named in honour of Ian Balding.
1.02 Newbury - Redorange and Starlust battle for Group Three prize
Redorange and Starlust will contest the Dubai International Airport World Trophy Stakes at 1.02pm in what promises to be a competitive Group Three affair.
Clive Cox's Redorange carries strong credentials under new jockey Callum Rodriguez. An improving performer, he has enjoyed a productive season that included victory in the Listed City Walls at York in July. Although he was well beaten in the Nunthorpe, this assignment should prove more suitable.
Starlust, a winner of the 2024 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint, has not added to his tally since that success but has been running consistently well. He finished second in the Nunthorpe and fourth at the Curragh, and this Group Three contest appears to offer an ideal opportunity for him to secure another victory.
Last year's first and second, First Instinct and Shagraan, will be among the leading contenders in what shapes as an open field, while Naana's Sparkle steps up in class following his Goodwood handicap success.
1.37 Newbury - Primo Lara takes on French Duke in Autumn Cup
The competitive Dubai Duty Free Autumn Cup at 1.37pm will see progressive performer Primo Lara clash with French Duke in a battle between two in-form runners.
Primo Lara, trained by Jane Chapple-Hyam, has flourished since joining from Jack Morland's yard. The five-year-old has won two of his three starts for his new connections, including a decisive victory at Kempton, and the booking of Ryan Moore as jockey underlines his connections' confidence in his prospects.
French Duke produced his best effort in some time when finishing an excellent second at York on his most recent outing, and despite the handicapper's adjustment, he should be expected to mount another bold challenge.
Alan King's Insanity carries a two-pound lower weight than when he finished second at Pontefract in April, while Pearl River, with a feather weight, rates as an each-way proposition.

The day's racing extends across multiple venues. At Caulfield, the Group One Underwood Stakes features Buckaroo and Cosmic Crusader among the headline runners.
Newbury hosts several additional contests: Boyfriend and Almekarem will attract support in a deep field at 2.47, Jassas looks to bounce back after a Group Three defeat at 3.20, and Drymee tops a field of ten for the Fanshawe team at 4.30.
Newcastle's 5.55 race sees Haggas' Weffaag seeking a first success, while Chester features Impulsive Spirit dropping down in class following a Group Three assignment at 2.00.
French racing provides additional interest with Group Three contests at Chantilly at 12.58 and 1.33, with Graffard fielding two runners in the earlier race and Amy Murphy saddling Magna Grace in the later contest. The 2.50 at Chantilly features plenty of British interest with Awaken and Sacred Ground among eight runners.
