Saturday's flat racing action brings a packed card from Chester, Newbury and Newcastle, all broadcast live on Sky Sports Racing.
2.12 Newbury - Arapaho Gold defends unbeaten record in Mill Reef
Arapaho Gold will look to extend his perfect record in the Group Two Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury, a race being run in honour of Ian Balding. The juvenile trained by Michael Dods has won all four of his starts to date, with his most impressive victory coming in the Group Two Gimcrack Stakes at York.
The form from that York success has been validated by the performance of the runner-up, and Arapaho Gold carries a three-pound penalty into Saturday's contest. According to Racing Post, Dods has described him as the best juvenile he has trained, and the colt is priced at 5-4 favourite for the £175,000 contest over six furlongs.
Connor Beasley will ride Arapaho Gold, who has progressed through his earlier wins at Thirsk before stepping up in class. The final field for the Mill Reef Stakes comprises eight runners, making it a competitive renewal.
Andrew Balding's Jolivette represents the sole filly in the line-up and heads the danger list. Under Colin Keane, she produced her best effort yet when finishing third behind Libertango at York and remains capable of significant improvement. Racing Post rates her at 7-4.
Cut A Dash finished fourth in the Coventry Stakes but has yet to reproduce that form in subsequent outings. Nabati, trained by Charlie Appleby, is another live contender who finished third behind Forbidden Fire in the Flying Scotsman and could be suited by the drop back to six furlongs. The colt is available at 3-1 in the betting.
1.02 Newbury - Redorange and Starlust battle for Group Three honours
The Dubai International Airport World Trophy Stakes at 1.02pm presents a trappy Group Three contest in which Redorange and Starlust lock horns. Clive Cox's Redorange has leading claims under new jockey Callum Rodriguez and has enjoyed a fruitful campaign, landing the Listed City Walls at York in July. He was well beaten in the Nunthorpe but should find this assignment more straightforward.
Starlust, who captured the 2024 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint, has yet to win since that American success but has been knocking on the door of late. The runner finished second in the Nunthorpe and fourth at the Curragh, and this looks an ideal opportunity to land a Group Three prize. According to The Sun's racecard, Starlust is ridden by Rossa Ryan and is Templegate's tip for the race.
Last year's first and second, First Instinct and Shagraan, look best of the rest in an open field. Naana's Sparkle heads up in class after his Goodwood handicap victory and could provide value at bigger odds.
1.37 Newbury - Primo Lara takes on French Duke in Autumn Cup
The Dubai Duty Free Autumn Cup at 1.37pm sees progressive Primo Lara take on French Duke in a competitive heat. Jane Chapple-Hyam's Primo Lara has been in fine form since joining from Jack Morland, and the five-year-old scored with a bit in hand at Kempton to take his record to two wins from three starts for his new connections. Ryan Moore is an eye-catching booking for the ride.
French Duke ran his best race in some time when finishing an excellent second at York last time. Although the handicapper has not missed him, another bold bid should be expected from the runner.
Alan King's Insanity is two pounds lower than when second at Pontefract back in April, while Pearl River carries a feather weight and rates an each-way player in the field.
Best of the rest across the card
The early action begins at Caulfield with the Group One Underwood Stakes at 6.35am, where Buckaroo and Cosmic Crusader headline the card.
At Newbury, the 2.47 race features Boyfriend and Almekarem in a deep field, while the 3.20 sees Jassas looking to bounce back after a Group Three defeat. Drymee tops a field of 10 for the Fanshawe team in the 4.30.
Newcastle's 5.55 race features Haggas' Weffaag seeking a first success, while Chester's 2.00 sees Impulsive Spirit drop down in class after Group Three competition.
Chantilly hosts three races of note. The 12.58 Group Three features runners from Graffard, Meehan and Burke, while the 1.33 Group Three contest includes Amy Murphy's Magna Grace. The 2.50 race attracts plenty of British interest, with Awaken and Sacred Ground among eight runners.
Belmont Park continues its second day of action with Peter Fornatale on course.
