Saturday's racing calendar brings a packed schedule across multiple venues, with Sky Sports Racing providing live coverage from Chepstow, Hexham and Southwell as the action unfolds across the UK and beyond.
Chepstow's Silver Trophy shapes as a standout contest
The feature race of the day comes in the form of the Wasdell Group Silver Trophy Handicap Hurdle at Chepstow, which promises to deliver a compelling spectacle. This £75,000 Premier Handicap over 2m 3f 100y has attracted a classy field of contenders, with the winner receiving £42,712.
Masked Man has dominated the betting markets throughout the week and represents a genuine threat on his handicap debut. The five-year-old, who remains lightly raced over hurdles, secured victories in two of his four starts over the obstacles last season while also acquitting himself creditably in Graded company. His previous outing at Chepstow on 10 October 2025 saw him defeat Grand Conqueror by 41.75 lengths, demonstrating the calibre of his form.
Wellington Arch brings a contrasting profile to the contest, having established himself as a handicap performer of note. His recent record shows two successive handicap victories, most impressively when he triumphed in a strong contest at Aintree. However, he faces a further seven-pound penalty for those wins, which will test his credentials at this level.
Melon rounds out the leading contenders, having claimed an Aintree handicap on his final hurdles outing before enjoying a recent run on the Flat that should have sharpened his fitness.
Glynn Brae and The Mighty Celt both merit consideration as each-way propositions, whilst Rambo T, who captured this prize twelve months ago, cannot be entirely discounted despite the passage of time.
Hexham's novice chase features Prolific Passing Diamond
The Cast Novices' Limited Handicap Chase at Hexham presents a trappy affair with just four runners contesting the prize. Prolific Passing Diamond, trained by Ben Haslam, has made an impressive transition to fencing, winning both his starts at Cartmel. The six-year-old's natural jumping ability suggests he possesses the tools to prove difficult to catch in this upgraded contest.
Tiddesley Wood emerges as the chief threat, making his debut for Adrian Keatley after switching from Fergal O'Brien's yard. He demonstrated his capabilities over hurdles by doubling his tally when landing a Kempton novice on his final start for his previous trainer, and his switch to fences will be monitored with interest.
Ballykinlar and Passengerontheship complete the quartet of runners.
Southwell's competitive handicap features recent winner Tanjen
The Pilsner To The Post Handicap at Southwell brings together nine runners in what shapes as a fiercely competitive heat. This Class 5 race over 4f 214y carries a £4,397 winner's prize.
Tim Easterby's four-year-old Tanjen arrives on the back of a comfortable victory at Hamilton and boasts a winning record over this course and distance. With a seven-pound rise in the weights, he switches back to the all-weather surface and appears well-positioned to follow up his recent success.
Star Noir has rekindled his form with an impressive eight-and-a-half length victory at Catterick and reverts to handicap company with genuine prospects of success.
David O'Meara's top-weighted runner Goyard came agonisingly close to victory over this course and distance last month and would require only a similar effort to feature prominently, despite receiving a one-pound penalty.
Supporting races across the card
The 2.10 at Chepstow features a competitive four-year-old handicap hurdle with Tenter Le Tout and Mojito Des Mottes among the runners. The 2.45 sees Stick To The Board and Great Dance fancied, whilst Miss Cynthia heads a field of nine runners for the Skelton team in the 3.22.
International racing provides additional interest, with Jolivette holding strong claims in a Group Two contest at Chantilly with Colin Keane in the saddle at 2.32. A Listed prize at Chantilly at 1.15 features Oisin Murphy riding for Graffard, with a further Listed race at 4.17 attracting several British-trained runners.
Across the Atlantic, Braida and Kensington Lane contest a Grade One at Keeneland at 10.16, whilst Australian racing offers Group Two action at Caulfield at 4am with Pinhole fancied. Sheza Alibi is expected to command a short price in a Group One at Caulfield at 5.50, with Warwoven contesting the Caulfield Guineas at 6.30 and another Group One following at 7.10.
Back on home soil, Heather Honey features among six runners at Hexham in the 3.05, whilst Light Snowfall represents a notable newcomer in the fillies' novice at Southwell at 5.55.
