Nico Carrillo made an emphatic statement in his kickboxing debut, dismantling Zhou Jiaqiang with a commanding second-round knockout at ONE Fight Night 46 in Bangkok on Saturday morning. The performance answered lingering questions about whether the Scot's formidable striking power would translate effectively from the four-ounce gloves of Muay Thai into the kickboxing ring.

Fighting at Lumpinee Stadium, Carrillo faced a composed opponent who started brightly. Zhou, making his ONE promotional debut, had planned to use footwork and counter-strikes to keep Carrillo at range. The Chinese striker executed his gameplan effectively in the opening round, landing sharp combinations and displaying slick lateral movement that kept the newly crowned ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion honest.

The complexion shifted dramatically in the second round. After absorbing a front kick to the face, Carrillo responded with explosive aggression, unleashing a relentless barrage of punches that forced Zhou onto the back foot. What followed was a sustained firefight in which the 27-year-old gradually dismantled his opponent through heavy shots to both head and body.

A series of punishing left hooks to the midsection proved particularly effective in breaking Zhou's resistance. Trapped in the corner and visibly depleted, Zhou had no answer as Carrillo maintained his assault. The referee waved off the contest at 2:47 of the second round after Zhou fell to the canvas and could not beat the count.

The victory marked the 30th win of Carrillo's professional career. According to ONE's official records, Carrillo entered the bout with a 7–1 record in the promotion and an overall mark of 30–4 with 16 finishes, establishing him as a dangerous finisher across multiple disciplines.

The triumph represents an ideal launchpad for Carrillo's pursuit of world titles across two sports. His elevation to undisputed featherweight Muay Thai champion came after ONE announced in July that Tawanchai PK Saenchai had vacated the title, promoting Carrillo from interim to undisputed champion status. That interim crown itself came via a significant victory—a unanimous decision over Shadow Singha Mawynn at ONE Fight Night 40 in February 2026.
