Britain's Marie McManamon will step into the ring against Hong Kong Muay Thai sensation Yu Yau Pui in an atomweight contest on the undercard of ONE Fight Night 48, which broadcasts live on Sky Sports in the early hours of Saturday, October 3.
McManamon stands as one of the United Kingdom's most accomplished female Muay Thai competitors. Her dominance in the sport stems from exceptional cardiovascular conditioning and devastating kicking technique, accomplishments that have secured her both the Victory League and Roar Fighting Championship titles throughout her career.
The British fighter enters this matchup following a setback against Selina Flores, yet she remains undeterred in pursuing elite-level opposition. Her previous experience as a former ONE world title challenger demonstrates her pedigree at the sport's highest echelon.
Yu Yau Pui represents a formidable test for McManamon. The Chinese striker possesses the technical ability to conclude fights decisively through her striking prowess. Yu began her ONE Championship journey by competing in the weekly ONE Friday Fights series starting in 2023, and her explosive rise through the ranks has been remarkable—she secured four knockout victories across five contests, earning a substantial $100,000 contract with ONE Championship as a result.
The headline bout of ONE Fight Night 48 features Middlesbrough's Paul Elliott in a heavyweight MMA clash against Shamil Erdogan. Elliott has described a potential world title shot as 'life-changing', with the vacant ONE heavyweight world title potentially on the line following Anatoly Malykhin's retirement from the sport.
The card's supporting lineup includes a significant Muay Thai encounter between America's Luke Lessei and England's Charlie Guest. The victor in this featherweight matchup will position themselves for a title opportunity against Nico Carrillo's featherweight crown.
ONE Fight Night 48 airs live on Sky Sports during the early hours of Saturday, October 3.
