The Netball Super League has unveiled its full fixture list for the 2027 season, with the annual Netball Super Cup set to take place on February 27 at Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena.
Defending champions AO Thunder will launch the campaign in style, facing Loughborough Lightning on Friday, March 5. The opening night will also see Nottingham Forest and Birmingham Panthers compete in a separate fixture, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season ahead.
The Netball Super Cup represents a flagship one-day event designed to bring all eight Super League teams together in a single location to showcase the sport's elite talent. This marks the first time since the competition's creation in 2025 that the showpiece will be hosted in Nottingham, with the Midlands venue providing a fitting backdrop for the tournament.
Loughborough Lightning arrive as defending Super Cup champions, though they narrowly missed qualification for the 2026 League final. They will have the opportunity to retain their title in front of a home crowd as all eight clubs prepare for their league campaigns.
According to Sky Sports, the 2027 regular season will comprise 14 rounds before the play-offs and Grand Final, providing an extended competition format. The season opens with four Round One matches spread across March 5–7, with London Pulse facing LexisNexis Dragons on March 6 and London Mavericks taking on NIC Leeds Rhinos on March 7.
A notable feature of the 2027 campaign is the return of double-header matches, with four such fixtures scheduled throughout the season. This format allows multiple matches to be staged at the same venue on the same day, enhancing the spectacle for supporters.
AO Thunder's path to defending their title began with their triumph in the 2026 Grand Final, when they defeated London Pulse 54–51. Eleanor Cardwell proved decisive in that encounter, scoring a crucial two-point super shot with under a minute remaining to secure the club's fifth league title.
Netball Super League Competitions Director Ian Holloway expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season.
It's incredibly exciting to reveal our 2027 fixtures as momentum continues to build towards the third season of the new era of the Netball Super League.
Holloway highlighted the transformative changes implemented over the past two years.
Over the past two years we've made a number of bold changes, and the incredible growth that our league has experienced since has demonstrated the power and potential that we know exists within our sport.
The director emphasised the league's commitment to elevating the profile of its athletes and the sport itself.
We're continuing to provide bigger and better platforms for our inspirational female athletes to perform on, fuelling the growth of the league and ensuring netball remains firmly at the heart of the growth of women's sport.
The 2027 season arrives at a time of significant momentum for English netball. England has secured hosting rights for the 2031 Netball World Cup, with Manchester's Co-op Live arena set to stage the tournament featuring 16 teams. This represents the third time England has hosted the World Cup, following previous editions in 1963 and 2019.
