Anna Nordqvist says a major weight has lifted now that her Team Europe squad is complete, allowing her full focus to shift to preparing the 12 players for next month's Solheim Cup.
I feel this is a big milestone in this captaincy and the Solheim Cup journey, because we can now focus on preparing the 12 players for the Solheim Cup and the event ahead.
Getting to this point wasn't easy. Nordqvist admits the process of ringing players to deliver bad news was one of the toughest parts of the job so far.
It was a quite hard and emotional part of the journey having to make so many phone calls, letting players know they didn't make it and they weren't getting a pick.
She leaned on the experience of those who'd sat in her seat before, saying their advice helped her push through the difficult calls.
Speaking to some past captains, they encouraged me to do my best and try to get through it because once it was done, then the hardest part would be behind me.
There was a lighter side too. Nordqvist clearly enjoyed catching her three rookie picks off guard with the news that they'd made the cut.

The trio joined Nordqvist for interviews and a live show at the Sky Sports News studio the day after the AIG Women's Open concluded, marking the moment the full team was revealed to the public.
According to Golf Monthly, Nordqvist's four captain's picks were officially confirmed as Leona Maguire, Julia López Ramírez, Nastasia Nadaud and Mimi Rhodes, while the same report confirms Europe's automatic qualifiers as Charley Hull, Esther Henseleit, Lottie Woad, Maja Stark, Céline Boutier, Carlota Ciganda, Linn Grant and Nanna Koerstz Madsen.
Nordqvist is happy with the blend she's assembled, pairing seasoned campaigners with newcomers who bring a different edge to the group.
I feel very good about the team we have selected and who has qualified. We have a great mixture of experience and personality, plus four rookies who bring a sense of fresh air and aggressive playing styles.
Attention now turns to strategy, with Nordqvist relishing the challenge of working out her pairings ahead of the clash with Team USA.
I'm excited to continue to work on the pairing "puzzle" over the coming weeks and figure out the best strategy for us to take on Team USA. I'm also excited that everyone is so supportive and looking forward to what is ahead next month.
She was keen to stress that the work involves far more than just the players and captain.
There is still a couple more weeks until we all head to the Netherlands, but there is constant work and preparation being done behind the scenes - including from the vice-captains, backroom team, helpers and caddie captains!

Rookie picks and past coverage
According to Sky Sports, Maguire was the only one of Nordqvist's four picks with prior Solheim Cup experience, with López Ramírez, Nadaud and Rhodes all making their debuts on the biggest stage in women's team golf. Nordqvist's selections were made once the Women's Open had wrapped up, since that tournament effectively served as the last chance for hopefuls to state their case before the four picks were locked in, as noted by Golf Monthly. Not everyone was pleased with the outcome - Yahoo Sports reported that Dewi Weber of the Netherlands missed out despite ranking ahead of some of the captain's picks, ruled ineligible because she lacked LET membership.
What happens next
The Solheim Cup is set for September 11-13 at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands, as confirmed by Golf Monthly, marking the first time the tournament has been staged there. Team USA, captained by Angela Stanford, are still due to reveal their full roster later in August, according to the same source.
Sky Sports Golf will carry exclusive live coverage of all three days of the biennial contest, starting at 6am on Friday September 11, continuing at 6am on September 12 and moving to a 10am start on September 13. Team USA need 14 points to retain the trophy following their 15.5-12.5 win in 2024, while Team Europe require 14.5 points to secure their first outright Solheim Cup victory since 2021.
