Audience's full-sister makes her first start today

Brighton and Southwell host Tuesday's racing action, with coverage broadcast live on Sky Sports Racing across both venues.

5.30 Southwell - Lady's Grace breaks maiden in style

The bettingsites.co.uk Bookmaker Comparison EBF Fillies' Restricted Novice Stakes featured the debut of Lady's Grace, a filly trained by the Gosden team and owned by Cheveley Park. The daughter of Dubawi carries significant pedigree credentials into her racing career.

Lady's Grace is the full-sister to Audience, who dominated the 2024 Group 1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury. That victory saw Audience overcome a high-quality field that included Charyn in second place. The newcomer is also closely related to Esquire, a winner of the Greenham Stakes in the famous red and white silks of Cheveley Park. Should Lady's Grace inherit the ability demonstrated by her siblings, connections believe she possesses the potential to develop into a high-class performer.

According to Racing TV, Lady's Grace justified the confidence placed in her, winning the race under jockey Robert Havlin at odds of 5/2. The victory marked an impressive introduction to competitive racing for the Cheveley Park colours.

Jahami, also owned by Cheveley Park and trained by Roger Varian, finished second in the contest. The filly made her debut at Newcastle last month, where she finished third of ten runners in a respectable effort. Stepping up in trip to seven furlongs for this assignment, Jahami showed clear improvement with Ray Dawson replacing Sean Dylan Bowen in the saddle.

Thespian Queen, a daughter of York Stakes winner Time Test, rounded out the frame in third. The filly had previously contested a Class 2 affair at Goodwood where she was well beaten, prompting connections to drop her in grade for this opportunity. Callum Hutchinson was booked to ride the mare.

Miss Clarice, a half-sister to Group 3 winner Mrs Danvers, made her debut for trainer Jonathan Portman in the race and showed promise on her first competitive outing.

3.23 Brighton - Previous winners clash in handicap

Bug Boy and Stintino Sunset, both recent winners, faced off in the Bet £20 Get £40 In Free Bets At matchbook.com Handicap at Brighton. The pair represented contrasting form lines heading into the contest.

Bug Boy, trained by Tony Newcombe, returned to Brighton where he had recorded a victory at the beginning of September over the same course and distance. The 10-year-old faced a 1lb rise in the weights following that success and was bidding for back-to-back victories. According to At The Races, Bug Boy held an impressive Brighton record of four runs, two wins and two places over course and distance. Taryn Langley took off 5lb as the gelding sought to extend his winning sequence.

Stintino Sunset brought strong recent form into the race, having recorded her fourth career victory at Bath last time out over the extended 11 furlongs. The six-year-old, trained by Julie and Shelley Birkett, had been raised to a rating of 53 from 49, representing her highest mark since August of the previous year. However, according to LiveSport, Stintino Sunset finished second in the race, unable to overcome Bug Boy's challenge.

Basilette, trained by Seamus Mullins, stepped down to a mile and a half having been denied by a head at Bath on her most recent start. The seven-year-old mare is expected to return to hurdling following this assignment but was approaching peak fitness for the test.

8.00 Southwell - Nochebuena faces impressive Lingfield scorer

The Ralph Beckett-trained Nochebuena took on Affettuoso in the bettingsites.co.uk Your Betting Guide Handicap. The pair represented contrasting recent form.

Nochebuena, the top-rated runner in the field, arrived off the back of a distant ninth-place finish at Doncaster last time out. Prior to that disappointing effort, the mare had finished behind Hoseki, a horse who subsequently boosted that form by winning at Newmarket on Saturday.

Affettuoso, trained by Roger Varian, had impressed in his most recent outing at Lingfield. The gelding had previously chased home several quality animals before being gelded ahead of his last start. Sent off at odds of 1-9, Affettuoso justified strong market support by bolting up, winning by just under eight lengths in a facile display.

Cliff Danger offered the better winning form from the remainder of the field, having tasted victory on his penultimate start before his most recent outing.
