Mikel Arteta has committed his future to Arsenal by signing a fresh long-term contract, ending months of speculation about his position at the club.
The 44-year-old Spanish manager's previous deal, agreed in September 2024, was scheduled to expire in the summer of 2025. His new agreement is expected to extend his tenure at the Emirates into at least his 10th year with the club, according to BBC Sport.
Since taking charge in 2019, Arteta has overseen a remarkable transformation of Arsenal's fortunes. Most notably, he guided the Gunners to their first Premier League title in 22 years last season, ending three consecutive campaigns that saw the club finish as runners-up.
Beyond the league title, Arteta's achievements include leading Arsenal to only their second Champions League final appearance, though that match ended in a penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. He has also secured an FA Cup triumph and three Community Shield victories during his tenure.

Arteta expressed his satisfaction with the new arrangement in a statement released by the club.
It's a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal. This club is unique, its character and the way it makes you feel, and I have a great sense of privilege that our journey together will continue.
The manager went on to emphasise the special relationship he has built with the club and its supporters.
We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together. I'm extremely grateful to Stan and Josh for their trust and support, and feel honoured to be leading this club through such a special period in its 140-year history. This is such a proud moment for me and my family. I feel the love and respect from our fantastic supporters, and they have mine - and ours - in return.
The new contract represents a significant financial commitment from Arsenal. According to BBC Sport, Arteta's current salary stands at £10m annually plus up to £5m in performance bonuses, with the fresh terms offering a substantial pay increase.
Arsenal's co-chair Josh Kroenke had previously identified securing Arteta's future as a priority for the club. In May, he signalled the importance the ownership placed on keeping the manager at the helm as the club pursues its ambitions.
Richard Garlick, the club's chief executive, welcomed the news of Arteta's commitment.
This is an important time in Arsenal Football Club's history. We want to create a winning era together with Mikel. We will continue to work hard together as we aim to fulfil our long-term ambitions for the club and our supporters. Mikel has the belief, determination and the understanding of what it takes to build something remarkable and enduring here, and we are excited to continue that journey together.
Beyond Arteta's own contract, ESPN reported that members of Arteta's coaching staff are also in the process of renewing their own contracts, suggesting the club is moving to secure continuity across the entire management structure.
The timing of the announcement comes as Arsenal prepares for its next fixture against Leeds United on 10 October, as the club continues its push for further silverware this season.
