Wednesday's jumps card brings a cracking afternoon and evening of action to Worcester, broadcast live on Sky Sports Racing, with several well-fancied types converging for a series of competitive contests.

The opening CopyBet Bog Now For York Tomorrow Handicap Chase, due off at 5.02pm, pits Muskerry Rock against Smugglers Haven in what looks a genuinely strong start to the card. According to irishracing.com, the race has drawn a field of six, with Palamon and King Roly joining the two market leaders alongside Harrys Hope and Yes Day over the 2m 7f trip.

Muskerry Rock, trained by the Skelton team, doubled his fencing tally when he made light work of Balkardy at Newton Abbot, and he holds plenty of appeal despite now racing off a mark five pounds higher. The same source lists him at 11st 12lb with Harry Skelton in the saddle and an official rating of 120.

Smugglers Haven, meanwhile, has been in excellent shape over hurdles throughout the summer, and Sara Bradstock's runner catches the eye as he returns to fences with his confidence clearly restored following a fall back in December. Irishracing.com also has him carrying 11st 12lb, with Miss L Bradstock booked for the ride and matching Muskerry Rock on an official rating of 120.

The Jonjo and A J O'Neill-trained Yes Day rates an each-way possibility, while Harrys Hope is another worth closer inspection before the off.

Sporting Life reports that the winner of this opener will collect £4,700 in prize money, according to Sporting Life. The Racing Post adds further context, noting the contest forms part of the ARC Summer Chase Series Qualifier, which helps explain why so many established staying chasers have been drawn to this particular renewal, as detailed by the Racing Post.

Mares' hurdle and novices' contest also feature

Later on the card, the 6.03pm CopyBet Support Safer Gambling Mares' Maiden Hurdle sees two bumper winners renew rivalry in Sparkling Water and Datstheholyallofit.

Datstheholyallofit has built on a pair of Sedgefield efforts to finally get off the mark at Kelso, and there could be more improvement in store as she tackles obstacles for the first time, with Brian Hughes reunited in the saddle.

Sparkling Water, representing the popular Skelton yard, opened her account for the stable when winning as favourite at Uttoxeter, and she has the look of a filly capable of following up in this sphere.

Among the rest, Elated could feature in the frame, while Take The Boat and Blue Topaz are both deserving of respect.

The 6.38pm CopyBet For Premier League Profit Boosts Novices' Hurdle sees Gordon Elliott's Newbrook Diamond bidding for a third consecutive victory. The daughter of Balko landed a Wexford maiden hurdle last month before following up with an emphatic success at Carlisle. She takes on a double penalty here but still sets the standard, with Sean Bowen taking over in the saddle.

The Skeltons boast another leading contender in Square D'Alboni, a useful performer on the level who has won twice from four starts, including his last two outings, with a wind operation appearing to have had the desired effect. Olly Murphy's Road To Wembley is rated best of the remainder.

Our earlier preview of the day's fixtures, Lingfield and Worcester stage competitive Wednesday racing cards, had flagged Regal Renaissance as chasing a four-timer, underlining how both venues continue to produce competitive, closely watched cards throughout the summer.

What happens next

Racing TV confirms the Worcester card is scheduled to get under way at 5.02pm on Wednesday 19 August 2026, according to Racing TV. The 17:33 race follows immediately after, run over 2m 110y as a Class 5 contest per the Racing Post, with the remainder of the card scheduled for 18:03, 18:38, 19:08, 19:38 and 20:08, as listed by Sporting Life. That 19:08 contest is expected to be led by Starshine Legend, while Cinnodin and Back In The Bay feature among the runners in the 20:08, according to the same Sporting Life listing.

Elsewhere on the day's action, the 8.08pm race at Worcester is headlined by last-time-out winners Mancero and The Great Escape, while attention also turns to France, where the 4.45pm Listed contest at La Teste De Buch sees City Queen represent Charlie Appleby and Godolphin, with Juddmonte's Life Study also looking an exciting prospect. The earlier 4.10pm race at the same track features runners carrying the Wathnan and Al Shaqab colours.
